Horse Sports by the Bay, Inc. is pleased to announce that they have been awarded the opportunity to host the 2010 Great American Insurance Group/United States Dressage Federation Region 2 Dressage Championships. The championships will be held September 9-12, 2010, at Flintfields Horse Park in beautiful Traverse City, MI.
The news is out that Cady van Assendelft, a member of the Glenmore Hunt Pony Club, has been selected to be a member of the National Geographic Hands-on-Explorers expedition team going to Peru. Gossip is that Gerd Heuschmann's video "If Horses Could Speak" is under attack in Germany and being officially pulled off the market - the publisher is being sued by one of the 'anonymous' dressage riders shown in the movie for slander - because she is being shown as riding in rollkuer (not mentioning any names here!) So - the sales are going through the roof because now everyone wants to see what the fuss is about!! (Get your copy while they last!!)
Fans of bestselling mystery writer Tami Hoag are in for a treat as the author recently revealed some deep, dark secrets about her upcoming novel Deeper Than The Dead. The book features a very special character named Jane Thomas. Jane is based on - you guessed it - Jane Thomas, daughter of Peggy and E. Parry Thomas, owners of Olympic dressage horse Brentina. Jane won the chance to be in the book at a fundraiser last year at the USET Foundation auction.

Baby watch: Kim Snider and James Gilchrist are expecting! Triplets!!! Amber Heintzberger and her husband have just one baby on the way any day now, but we expect Amber will find that to definitely be sufficient!
Horses: Bragging rights? You bet! Horses Unlimited's RPSI stallion Leonberg kicked off his European Tour with a bang at CDI-O Rotterdam in the Netherlands. With Mikala Gundersen in the saddle, the 17 hand stallion impressed the judges in the freestyle to finish in fifth place with a 73.95% behind Edward Gal, Imke Schelleken-Bartels and Anky Van Grunsven. The pair also claimed the Team Bronze in the Nations Cup with the Danish team and earned a 67.575% in the Grand Prix. They also joined the team that represented Denmark in July at CHIO Aachen, the most prestigious horse show in the world.
Karin Offield checked in to say she's north again in Michigan and taking care of her father, who's recovering nicely. Meanwhile her two nice stallions, Lingh and Louisville are in good hands breeding like crazy! Iron Spring Farm lost a beloved member of the family when Heinse 354 succumbed to colic in late May. The 15-year-old stallion was known for his impressive performance career as both dressage and driving horse, as well as for his successful offspring, which includes three approved sons. The handsome Friesian exemplified the best traits of the breed: beauty, athletic ability and an excellent temperament, and is already missed. "Heinse was the type of horse that anyone would love to have in the barn," remembers his owner and rider Mary Alice Malone. "He was fun to ride and show, easy to be around and produced outstanding offspring. It is a very hard loss."
While training at Ulla Salzgeber's barn in Germany, Hilltop Farm's dressage trainer Christopher Hickey found his newest grand prix horse: Douglas S, a Baden Wurttemberg gelding. Watch out 2010 WEG!
Dianne Dudiak told us her horses left for Denmark on April 16, and are being ridden by Linnea Ericsson. She qualified Zandiego U for the Danish championships, and the first time out he won both his classes.
